
Project Overview
TLEC Engineering was commissioned by THPC to redesign and replace the existing Log Boom system at Nam Nyouang Dam, Lao PDR. The original system experienced alignment instability due to strong winds and wave action, causing the intermediate support structures to shift and reducing the effectiveness of the boom configuration.
After evaluating the site conditions and deep-water installation constraints, TLEC Engineering developed an improved design by increasing the number of intermediate support points from two to eleven locations. This approach distributed loads more efficiently, reduced anchoring requirements, and simplified installation activities.
The upgraded system significantly improved boom stability, enhanced operational reliability, and provided better protection against floating debris entering critical dam facilities.
